Horrific Crash Shuts Down A259 at Hooe
Police are probing a nasty two-vehicle smash that forced the closure of a stretch of the A259 at Hooe for hours. The collision happened just before 11:30am on Thursday, involving a black Range Rover and a grey Mercedes Sprinter.
Life-Threatening Injuries After Head-On Smash
The Range Rover was heading east between Pevensey Roundabout and Little Common Roundabout when it collided head-on with the Sprinter coming the other way. The 35-year-old female Range Rover driver from Eastbourne and her 32-year-old male passenger from Croydon suffered life-threatening injuries. An 18-year-old female passenger, also from Eastbourne, was seriously hurt but is not in critical condition.
The lone driver of the Mercedes, a 59-year-old man from Cambridgeshire, remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. All four are still in hospital.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
Detective Sergeant Rosie Newman, of the Serious Collision Investigations Unit, said: “We understand the inconvenience caused by this significant road closure, but it’s vital we gather all evidence from the scene to help our investigation.”
“We urge anyone who saw the crash or has dashcam or mobile footage to come forward.”
