Human Placenta Found Dumped in Oldham Park Sparks Urgent Police Hunt
Police have launched an urgent appeal after a human placenta was discovered abandoned in Werneth Park, Oldham, last Friday afternoon. The shocking find forced the immediate closure of the park while forensic teams scrambled to investigate.
Birth Likely Within 24 Hours – Mum and Baby ‘May Need Help’
Medical experts examining the placenta believe the birth happened within the last 24 hours. This grim detail raises serious concerns that both mother and baby could be in danger and might need urgent medical support.
Detective Inspector Andy Day from Greater Manchester Police said:
“It’s possible that mum or baby are, or could be, in need of medical attention. We have several enquiries underway to try and identify who the placenta belongs to, including searching various UK databases and liaising with a number of partner agencies.”
Police Plea: “Help Us Find Mum and Baby”
DI Day is appealing directly to the public:
“I’m appealing to anyone who either knows the identity of mum or baby, or indeed mum herself, to come forward so we can ensure they’re okay. We’d also urge anyone who has seen anything suspicious in Werneth Park in the last 24 hours to get in touch.”
No Risk to Public – Officers Stay on Patrol
Authorities have reassured locals that there is no danger to the wider community. Police will maintain a visible presence in the area to offer reassurance and listen to residents’ concerns.
The park’s closure caused understandable frustration, but DI Day praised the community’s cooperation:
“We appreciate the cooperation of those living locally, as we understand the impact of closing public spaces that are there to be enjoyed on a weekend.”
Anyone with information or who witnessed anything unusual at Werneth Park in the past day is urged to contact police immediately. Updates will follow as the investigation unfolds.
