Tribute to WWII Heroes: Eastbourne MP Honors Fallen US Airmen

This Sunday, 13th November, Eastbourne & Willingdon MP Caroline Ansell led a moving tribute at the Butts Brow Memorial. She joined other dignitaries to remember the brave crew of the USAAF B24-D Liberator bomber nicknamed “Ruth-less.”

Tragic Wartime Crash

The “Ruth-less” was critically damaged by enemy fire during a mission. Flying low in thick cloud, the plane crashed on 2nd February 1944, killing all 10 airmen on board.

Remembering Sacrifice

The memorial event paid solemn respect to these wartime heroes who gave their lives over Eastbourne. Caroline Ansell and fellow attendees honoured their sacrifice during the poignant ceremony.
