Tragic Leicester House Fire Claims One Life
A deadly blaze ripped through a home on Bedale Drive, Leicester, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 10, 2024. Leicestershire Police were called at 4:08 am after Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service spotted the fire.
One person was found dead inside the property. Several others received hospital treatment as a precaution.
14-Year-Old Girl Arrested Over Arson
A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of arson linked to the fire. She has since been released on bail while detectives continue their probe. Police and fire investigators are working side-by-side to uncover what sparked the deadly blaze, keeping all possibilities open.
Investigation in Early Stages, Police Appeal for Witnesses
“This is an extremely tragic incident in which a person has sadly lost their life. Our investigation is at a very early stage, and we are keeping an open mind as to what caused the fire,” said Detective Inspector Michael Chandler.
“A dedicated team is conducting enquiries, working closely with the fire service. Specially trained officers are supporting the family of the deceased, and police presence in the area is increased to reassure the community.”
