Fire Alarm Fault Triggers Cinema Evacuation in Newport

Cinema-goers were forced to ditch their popcorn and sprint out of screenings at Newport’s Cineworld tonight after a fire alarm malfunction sparked chaos.

Alarm Sets Off Panic at Cineworld and Nearby Restaurant

The blaring alarm jolted shoppers and diners just after 8.20pm on Tuesday, triggering a swift evacuation of the cinema and a nearby restaurant.

No Fire Found as Staff Search Premises

Cineworld staff carried out a thorough sweep of the building. Firefighters, called to the scene, were stood down by 8.30pm as no danger was detected.

A Cineworld spokesperson said: “It is believed the alarm system fault caused the false alarm.”
