Isle of Wight Festival Splashes Out £10,000 on Bridge to Lock Down Backstage
The Isle of Wight Festival has forked out a whopping £10,000 to install a bridge in Newport – all to keep the backstage area under tight lockdown, insiders reveal exclusively.
Bridge to Block Access Sparks Eyebrows
Festival chiefs are desperate to stop festival-goers from roaming backstage near Sea Close Park. But locals think it’s overkill. One source said: “It seems a bit petty – they’re just trying to stop a handful of people sitting on the grass and riverbank.”
Instead of opening up Hillside Road to ease access, organisers chose the pricey route of building a bridge. The result? A £10,000 price tag to keep the Riverside Centre service users moving while shutting down backstage access.
Big Names, Big Security, Big Spending
The festival, celebrating its massive 50th anniversary this year, is pulling out all the stops. To sell more tickets, organisers lined up four massive headliners: Depeche Mode, The Killers, Kasabian, and Liam Gallagher.
With such star power, it seems the festival is ready to pay whatever it takes to keep the event running smoothly – even if it means blowing £10k on a bridge to keep backstage locked down.
