Search for Missing Brit Jay Slater in Tenerife Hits Dead End
Debbie Duncan, mother of 19-year-old Jay Dean Slater, has broken her silence amid the ongoing search for her missing son in Tenerife. Jay vanished after arriving on the holiday island earlier this month.
Devastated Family Pleads for Answers
In a heart-wrenching statement released through British charity LBT Global, Debbie revealed:
“My son, Jay Dean Slater, arrived on Tenerife on June 13th with a friend to attend a music festival. After failing to return to his apartment on June 17th, he was reported missing. Jay is a normal young man in his third year of an apprenticeship, well-liked by a wide circle of friends.
Our family is devastated by his disappearance. Words cannot convey the pain we feel. Jay is our beautiful boy, with his whole life ahead of him, and we desperately want to find him.”
No Sign Despite Intensive Search Efforts
The Guardia Civil conducted a grueling 12-day land search in the mountains where Jay’s last phone call was traced, but found no trace. Spanish police continue to investigate why Jay travelled so far from his accommodation.
Debbie thanked the Spanish authorities for their tireless efforts and urged the press to respect the family’s privacy during this painful time.
Family Condemns Speculation and Calls for Respect
Addressing social media rumours and conspiracy theories, Debbie said:
“We are aware of conspiracy theories and speculation on social media and various websites. Such negativity is distressing to our family.
We appreciate the global outpouring of love and support, especially from Jay’s hometown in Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. As a family, we urge the world to respect our privacy.”
The family continues to appeal for any information that could lead to finding Jay, hoping for his safe return. The search for the young Brit remains ongoing.
