Joshua Moore, 21, of Weymouth, was sentenced to five years in prison after stabbing a man and assaulting a woman during a violent attack at a property in Sturminster on 30 September 2025. Police launched a manhunt after Moore fled the scene, attempting to evade capture by dyeing his hair.
Brutal Assault Unfolds
Moore confronted a woman he knew on a communal staircase, kicking her in the face. When a man in his 30s intervened, Moore stabbed him multiple times with a four-inch lock knife, causing serious injuries that required hospital treatment.
Police Track And Arrest
After fleeing on foot, police traced Moore to a hotel in Hampshire on 2 October 2025. Officers discovered he had dyed his blonde hair black in an attempt to avoid detection. He was arrested and brought back for trial.
Conviction And Jail Sentence
Moore was found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent and assault by beating. On Friday 5 June, the court sentenced him to five years in prison for his violent offences.

Detective Constable Emma Oram said: “This was a violent assault with a knife, with consequences that could have been far worse and even fatal. Our commitment remains firm in tackling knife crime and bringing offenders to justice.”
