Katie Price’s Mum Rushed to A&E After Burst Cyst Scare
A Health Scare at 72
Former glamour model Katie Price has revealed a frightening health scare involving her 72-year-old mum, Amy. The elderly lady was rushed to A&E after suffering a burst cyst, Katie disclosed on her podcast, The Katie Price Show.
Katie explained that her sister Sophie hurried Amy to hospital, where doctors confirmed the burst cyst following an ultrasound. After six tense hours in A&E, Amy was thankfully given the all-clear and sent home.
Fighting Lung Disease
This isn’t the first health battle for Amy. She underwent a lung transplant last year after battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) since 2017. The serious lung condition causes scarring, making it harder to breathe.
Despite slow progress and some setbacks, Amy remains determined to recover. In November, she gave an update on her ongoing treatment and emphasised the crucial role it plays in helping her transplanted lung function properly.
Katie’s Campaigning Courage
Katie has been a vocal advocate for pulmonary fibrosis awareness. Alongside Amy, she took part in last year’s Pulmonary Fibrosis Awareness Month campaign to highlight the struggles faced by those with the disease.
Pulmonary fibrosis leads to symptoms like breathing difficulty, coughing, fatigue, and weight loss — and while treatments can manage it, there is still no cure.
Amy’s journey has shone a spotlight on the importance of early diagnosis and effective care. As she battles on, she inspires many others facing the same tough fight.
