Massive Barn Blaze Lights Up Kent Night Sky
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is battling a huge barn fire in Tilden Lane, Marden. The emergency call came through just before 9.30pm, triggering a major firefight.
Firefighters Race Against Time
Six fire engines, a command support unit, a bulk water carrier, and about 32 firefighters are on the scene. They’re tackling flames engulfing a massive barn measuring roughly 40 by 50 metres. Inside, around 350 bales of hay are ablaze.
Firefighters Hold Ground to Protect Nearby Equipment
The blaze, visible for nearly six miles, threatens valuable farming gear stored in an adjacent barn. Crews have adopted a defensive approach to stop the fire spreading. They remain on site, ready to douse any flare-ups.
“Owners of the barns are said to be devastated at the loss,” a spokesperson said.
Cause Unknown, Fire to Burn for Days
The origin of the fire is still unclear. Although the flames are now contained, they are expected to smoulder for the next few days as firefighters keep watch.
