Lingfield Railway Station Shut After Double Bus Smash

Lingfield Railway Station is closed tonight following a dramatic double bus crash during rush hour. Emergency services rushed to the scene after a replacement rail bus crashed into the back of a second bus packed with train passengers.

Trains Halted, Replacement Buses In Chaos

All trains have stopped calling at Lingfield station. Passengers are being urged to travel to nearby Three Bridges instead. A taxi service has been arranged to help stranded commuters reach their destinations.

Crash Causes Havoc, Leaves Cars Crushed

The second bus came to rest on top of two parked cars after the smash just after 7pm on Monday. Thankfully, those onboard escaped with only minor injuries.

Police Launch Investigation

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “We were called to Lingfield following reports of a collision between two buses. Paramedics assessed three people for minor injuries, and one person has been taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.”

Rail bosses and police are now investigating the cause of the crash. Commuters are urged to check before travelling as disruption continues into the evening.
