The London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed its swift response to a huge fire erupting in the early hours at the Spectrum Building on Freshwater Road, Dagenham. The call came in at 2:52am on 26 August, triggering a major multi-agency emergency operation.
“We were called at 2:52am today to reports of a fire on Freshwater Road,” an LAS spokesperson revealed.
Paramedics didn’t mess about, dispatching multiple ambulance crews, incident response officers, an advanced critical care paramedic, emergency planning officers, and a command support unit to the scene. Alongside them, London’s elite Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and Air Ambulance teams joined the rescue efforts.
Casualties Treated, Two Taken to Hospital
Medical teams treated four casualties at the scene. Two were seriously injured enough to require hospital treatment, though their current condition remains under wraps.
Firefighters Still Battling Fierce Flames
More than 250 firefighters and 40 engines remain on the frontline, battling to contain the blaze that has devastated the cladded Spectrum Building. Fire crews in breathing apparatus are conducting tense search and rescue operations, desperate to find anyone trapped inside the scorching inferno.
Authorities have shut the area off with road closures and bus diversions. Officers from the Commissioner’s Reserve are helping to manage traffic and keep the public safe.

The cause of the blaze is still unknown and under active investigation. Officials promise updates on the fire’s status and on the hospitalised victims as soon as details emerge.
