London Ambulance Service runners raise nearly £30,000 in scorching 2025 London Marathon
Ten brave runners from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) have smashed nearly £30,000 for the London Ambulance Charity, conquering the grueling 2025 London Marathon under sweltering heat and record-breaking crowds.
Chief Exec Daniel Elkeles Leads the Charge
At the forefront was LAS Chief Executive Daniel Elkeles, who crossed the finish line in a solid 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 5 seconds. Daniel alone raised over £9,000 to boost wellbeing and mental health support for LAS staff, volunteers, and city-wide first aid projects.
Running for Life-Saving Support
The generous donations will fund vital wellbeing services for frontline paramedics, 999 call handlers, and emergency crews. They will also help roll out crucial first aid training in London communities, empowering citizens to act in crises.
Daniel Elkeles said: “The London Marathon is one of the biggest events LAS supports each year. Running it myself to give back to the London Ambulance Charity was truly special. This cause means the world to me and to the incredible people working across LAS.”
Scorching Heat, Record-Breaking Finishers
The 2025 Marathon ranked as the fourth hottest on record with temperatures hitting 22°C. Despite the tough conditions, tens of thousands took part, smashing the world record for the highest number of finishers ever.
Team LAS Honoured for Grit and Determination
Jessica Burgess, Head of the London Ambulance Service Charity, applauded the team’s spirit:
“We are incredibly proud of all our runners – especially our LAS heroes – who braved tough weather for this challenge. Thanks to their hard work, we can keep supporting our paramedics and emergency workers, enabling world-class care for London every day.”
What’s Next for LAS Fundraising?
The London Ambulance Charity is already gearing up for its next big event – a Dragon Boat Racing fundraiser in July. It promises to be another thrilling chance to back this vital cause.
