Blaze Breaks Out at Whitechapel Restaurant

Firefighters rushed to a roaring fire at the SOMSAA restaurant on Commercial Street, Whitechapel, today. The London Fire Brigade got the call just after 12.30pm following multiple emergency reports.

Six Engines Battle Flames Near Wentworth Street

Six fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene to tackle the blaze. Crews believe the fire started in the restaurant’s extraction fan, likely caused by a grease buildup.

Evacuated Safely, No Injuries Reported

Thankfully, all staff and customers were evacuated without injury. Emergency teams continue to work, but no casualties have been confirmed at this stage.

Road Closures Cause Disruption

Motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area. Roads between Thrawl Street and Whitechapel High Street are closed while crews manage the incident.
