Tragic House Fire in Sutton Claims Four Young Lives
A devastating blaze ripped through a home on Collingwood Road, Sutton, leaving four children dead despite heroic rescue efforts.
Firefighters Battle Intense Blaze
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters raced to the scene after the emergency call came in at 6.55pm. Fire crews found the entire ground floor engulfed in flames.
Firefighters clad in breathing apparatus entered the mid-terrace house and rescued four young children. First responders immediately began CPR and continued life-saving efforts alongside ambulance crews.
Community Left in Shock
Tragically, all four children were pronounced dead at hospital despite the frantic rescue attempt. The fire was under control by 8.36pm. Firefighters from Sutton and neighbouring stations attended the scene.
“This is an incident that has left everyone numb with profound sadness. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the children, the whole local community and all those who will be affected by this fire. Fire crews arrived quickly and located the children inside the property,” said a fire official.
“The welfare of our staff involved in this incident is very important to us and all of them will be offered counselling as a priority.”
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains unknown as investigators continue their work. Meanwhile, the community mourns this heartbreaking loss.
