Four Stages, 100 Acts – Something for Everyone
This year’s festival cranks up the sound with four massive stages: Radio 1 Main Stage, Future Sounds, Radio 1 Dance, and BBC Introducing. Expect around 100 artists, from global megastars to fresh new talent. The full lineup and ticket info will drop soon on Radio 1 – stay tuned!
Luton Braced for a Festival Boom
The Big Weekend is no ordinary gig; it traditionally kicks off the UK festival season and brings a huge boost to host towns. With a nod to the £3.7 million pumped into Dundee’s economy in 2023, Luton Council is ready to roll out the red carpet.
“The fact that BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend has chosen Luton is fantastic news for our town, especially our young people, and will showcase all the wonderful things about Luton,” said Cllr Hazel Simmons MBE, Leader of Luton Council.
Radio 1 Stars Excited to Light Up Luton
Greg James, the face of the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, is buzzing: “Radio 1’s Big Weekend is our favourite time of the year. We love taking it somewhere new every year. This year it’s Luton’s turn. Our mission is simple – we want everyone to have the best time.”
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of Radio 1, adds, “We have some incredibly exciting ideas and some of the biggest artists to announce. I can’t wait to celebrate in Luton.”
Festival Goes Live Across the Nation
Can’t make it? No worries. BBC Radio 1 will broadcast live all weekend, with performances on Radio 1’s iPlayer and BBC Sounds, so music fans everywhere can join the party. This event isn’t just another festival – it’s Luton’s moment to shine on the national stage.
