M2 Shut After Horror Crash Traps Two in Overturned Car

The M2 motorway in Kent is slammed shut eastbound between Junctions 5 and 6 after a serious crash left two people trapped inside an overturned vehicle. Expect delays of at least 30 minutes stretching for miles as emergency services battle the chaos.

Massive Delays and Major Diversions in Place

The motorway closure is causing gridlock. Drivers are being forced off at J5. Follow local signs marked with a black circle to navigate the official diversion:

  • Take the A249 southbound to Junction 7 of the M20
  • Join the M20 eastbound towards the coast
  • Exit at Junction 8, then head eastbound on the A20 to Charing
  • Take the A252 Faversham Road eastbound
  • Turn left onto the A251 northbound to meet the M2 at Junction 6

Brave Off-Duty Heroes & Rescuers Spring Into Action

Kent Fire and Rescue, paramedics, and police raced to the scene. An off-duty doctor and an off-duty police officer were already there, administering emergency first aid. Fire crews used hydraulic cutters to remove a B-post and a door, freeing the two trapped casualties.

Both victims were carefully evacuated on longboards and handed over to the South East Coast Ambulance Service for urgent medical treatment.

Road Closure Could Last Hours

Police warn the M2 will be closed for some time as the scene is cleared. Motorists are advised to use the diversion and brace for heavy traffic. More updates as the story develops.
