Chaos on M25 after crash involving car and two vans at Dartford Crossing

Major incident shuts down traffic in both directions

Kent Police and Highways England rushed to the scene after a crash at Junction 2 A2 (Darenth Interchange), near Dartford on the anticlockwise carriageway of the M25/A282. Kent Fire and Rescue teams were also called in to help. Authorities have stopped traffic both ways while they manage the scene and check if it’s safe for drivers to proceed.

Bridge struck and debris scattered

The collision involved a car and two vans. Not only was traffic halted on the anticlockwise side, but the clockwise carriageway was also blocked due to debris littering the motorway. Emergency crews are currently inspecting a nearby bridge hit in the crash for any structural damage.

Chaos spills onto Dartford Crossing

Heavy congestion has now built up heading from Kent into Essex at the Dartford Crossing. Motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible and expect significant delays.

More updates to follow as emergency teams work to clear the wreckage and reopen the roads.
