M6 Nightmare: Overturned Lorry Sparks Massive Traffic Chaos Near Manchester
Lorry Overturns on M6, Causing Major Delays
Drivers faced brutal delays on the M6 this morning after a lorry overturned northbound between Junction 17 (Sandbach) and Junction 18 (Middlewich) in Cheshire. Three lanes were shut for seven hours, grinding traffic to a halt.
Emergency Crews Rush to Rescue
Firefighters, paramedics, and police scrambled to the scene. Fire crews rescued one casualty from the wrecked lorry. Cheshire Fire and Rescue confirmed the person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was handed to paramedics for treatment.
“Crews were able to free the casualty and assess them on the scene. Police and Highways are also present as efforts continue to clear the motorway,” said a Cheshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson.
Lengthy Traffic Backup as Recovery Continues
The overturned lorry came to rest against the nearside barrier, causing havoc on the motorway. National Highways North West warned of “very slow” traffic, with jams stretching over four miles. Drivers faced delays of up to 45 minutes while crews worked to clear the lorry and its load.
