Filming Kicks Off for Season Two of BAFTA-Nominated Comedy The Change
Get ready! Filming starts next month for the second series of Bridget Christie’s smash-hit comedy, The Change. The BAFTA and RTS-nominated show, produced by Expectation, will be directed by none other than Mackenzie Crook, famous for Detectorists, The Office, and Pirates of the Caribbean.
Mackenzie Crook Joins The Change Team
Mackenzie Crook is buzzing about directing series two. He said,
“The Change was my favourite TV show of 2023, so to be directing Series 2 feels like winning a competition. My prize? Bridget’s brilliantly crafted scripts, a cast packed with comedy legends, and filming in the stunning British countryside all summer. What a privilege to work with Expectation and return to Channel 4, where I started my career.”
Bridget Christie, the show’s creator, is equally thrilled:
“Detectorists was my favourite British TV show of the last decade and hugely influenced The Change. Having Mackenzie direct the second series feels like a mad dream. I can’t think of anyone better suited to it.”
Star-Studded Cast Returns to the Forest of Dean
The beloved cast is back, including:
- Susan Lynch as Eel Sister Agnes
- Tanya Moodie as DJ Joy
- Liza Tarbuck as the domineering Siobhain
- Jim Howick as The Verderer
- Jerome Flynn as Pig Man
- Paul Whitehouse as Tony
- Omid Djalili as Linda’s husband Steve
- Plus new arrival Laura Checkley (King Gary, Detectorists) as Eel Sister Theresa
What’s Next for Linda?
Bridget Christie’s character Linda faces big changes in series two. After the fallout from her lies to the forest community and the loss of the Mother Tree, her husband Steve shows up to bring her home. But Linda’s journey from Swindon housewife to Eel Queen is far from over.
This series promises drama, laughs, and unexpected twists as Linda’s choices ripple through the forest and beyond.

The second series of The Change was commissioned by Charlie Perkins, Head of Comedy, and Laura Riseam, Commissioning Editor for Comedy at Channel 4. Executive producers are Bridget Christie, Nerys Evans, and Morwenna Gordon, with Lisa Mitchell as producer.
Morwenna Gordon sums it up:
