A 16-year-old Northumberland lad has been slammed with multiple terrorism charges after police unearthed a terrifying arsenal at his home. The shocking haul included extremist materials, weapons, and bomb-making parts.
Teen’s Dark Online World Exposed
Snared at just 15, the boy was caught in 2025 following a crackdown by Counter Terrorism Policing North East and Northumbria Police. Officers seized a whopping 4.8 terabytes of data – that’s about 1.2 million songs – including 253,005 messages.
Digging deeper, cops found he lurked in 25 far-right chat groups, using a fake online persona to hide his dark obsessions. At his home, they discovered body armour, masks, extremist flags, and bomb-making parts. Plus, 22 weapons – knives, a crossbow, and airsoft rifles – were all confiscated.
Police Warn Over Online Radicalisation Risks
“This case provides a stark reminder around the dangers of extreme content online that is accessible to the public and how individuals can be drawn into serious offending,” said Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East.
