M25 Chaos as Serious Crash Closes Surrey Motorway
A nasty smash involving two cars and a lorry has shut the clockwise M25 in Surrey, sparking major traffic chaos.
Crash Closes M25 Between Junctions 5 and 6
The crash happened between Junction 5 (A21, Chipstead) and Junction 6 (Godstone), forcing emergency services, including Surrey Police, to close the entire clockwise carriageway.
National Highways Traffic Officers are on the scene, battling to keep traffic moving and help stranded drivers.
Expect Delays of Up to 30 Minutes
Drivers heading clockwise on the M25 should brace for delays up to half an hour. To dodge the jam, motorists are urged to follow the hollow triangle diversion signs.
The recommended route sends drivers off the M25 at Junction 5 onto the A21, then along the A25 towards Junction 6 (Godstone), where they can rejoin the motorway towards Gatwick Airport.
Plan Ahead or Stay Put
Those travelling through the area should build in extra time and consider alternative routes. National Highways advises drivers to plan journeys carefully or postpone non-essential trips until the motorway reopens.
