School Art Trip Ends in Serious Crash with Refuse Truck
Pupils heading out on a school art trip have been caught up in a serious collision involving their minibus and a refuse truck. The crash happened this morning on the A38 Kingsbury Road in Castle Vale, Birmingham.
Major Emergency Response at Scene
All emergency services rushed to the site, with multiple ambulances, paramedics, a Hazardous Area Response team, and even the Midlands Air Ambulance crew deployed. West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the call came in at 9am reporting the crash between the minibus and lorry.
The minibus windows have been covered with a green tarpaulin as crews attend to the injured. The lorry and minibus remain at the scene while a full investigation is underway, led by West Midlands Roads Police.
Students Seriously Injured, School Issues Statement
John Taylor High School in Barton-under-Needwood, Staffordshire, confirmed some of their Year 9 and Year 12 students were involved. One person has been seriously injured. The school said: “We are aware of a road traffic accident involving some of our students. Emergency crews are at the scene. We are working to support those directly affected.”
Road Closure and Ongoing Investigation
The A38 Kingsbury Road remains closed as emergency services manage the incident and treat multiple casualties. Ambulance crews assessed patients from both the minibus and the lorry driver at the scene.
