Massive Fire Rips Through West London School

A major emergency is underway at Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee School on Kennet Road, Maida Vale, after a fierce blaze broke out this morning.

Firefighters Battle Blaze with Heavy Gear

The London Fire Brigade scrambled eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters to the scene shortly before 10:00am. Thick smoke poured from the school’s roof, which is now partially engulfed in flames.

Crews deployed two 32-metre turntable ladders to douse the fire from above. Firefighters are working under tough conditions to bring the inferno under control.

People Feared Still Inside

Emergency teams are treating this as a “persons reported” incident, suggesting that there may still be individuals trapped inside. Paramedics and police are on site, helping evacuate the area and control the crowds.

A woman is already receiving treatment at the scene, but details on casualties remain unclear.

Chaos and Road Closures

Witnesses described chaotic scenes as staff and pupils were hurriedly evacuated. Roads around Kennet Road and Maida Vale have been shut, causing severe traffic snarls.

Station Commander Hardeep Dale said: “The school was safely evacuated before our crews arrived. We are working closely with partner agencies to support everyone affected. Road closures remain in place as we make the area safe. We urge the public to steer clear of the vicinity.”

Cause Unknown, Investigation Ongoing

The London Fire Brigade’s control officers received the first call at 1:07pm and quickly mobilised multiple stations across North Kensington, Paddington, Kensington, West Hampstead, and Hammersmith.

The fire’s cause is currently unknown. Officials continue to battle the blaze and will provide updates as the situation develops.
