Southsea Faces Massive Traffic Chaos as Victorious Festival Hits Town
Get ready, Southsea! The Victorious Festival is set to unleash major traffic havoc this weekend. With the seafront from the Pyramids all the way to Clarence Pier shut down, drivers and locals should brace for serious disruption.
Seafront Road Closures: What You Need to Know
- Friday 6am to Monday 8am: Clarence Esplanade (from the flood gates west to Jack Cockerill Way) and the entire Avenue De Caen will be completely closed.
- Friday to Sunday, 11pm–11:59pm:
- Clarence Parade (Serpentine Way to Lennox Road South)
- Palmerston Road southbound (Villiers Road to Clarence Parade)
- Lennox Road South southbound (Clarendon Road to Clarence Parade)
- Friday to Sunday, 11pm–1am:
- Duisburg Way westbound (near Western Parade) closed for safe northbound departures
- Pier Road roundabout closed between Gordon Road westbound and eastbound
No Parking Zones and Waiting Bans
- 8am Friday to 8am Monday: No waiting on Clarence Esplanade (flood gates west to Jack Cockerill Way), all of Avenue De Caen, Victoria Avenue Spur and Victoria Avenue (except coaches), selected bays on Clarence Parade, and parts of Duisburg Way.
- 8am Friday to 8pm Tuesday: Extended no waiting zone on Clarence Esplanade from the Blue Reef Aquarium bus stop to west of the D-Day car park entrance.
Detours and Alternative Routes to Dodge the Gridlock
When roads close, use these diversions:
- During Clarence Esplanade & Avenue De Caen closures: Jack Cockerill Way → Clarence Parade → Duisburg Way → Pier Road and back.
- Departure times on Clarence Parade, Palmerston Road & Lennox Road South:
- Eastbound: Osborne Road, Clarendon Road, Burgoyne Road
- Westbound: Lennox Road South, Clarendon Road, Osborne Road
- During Duisburg Way & Pier Road roundabout closures:
- Duisburg Way detour: Western Parade, Southsea Terrace, Bellevue Terrace
- Pier Road roundabout detour: Gordon Road, Pembroke Road, High Street, Cambridge Road
