Tragedy on the M4 as man dies in late-night pedestrian crash

Fatal Collision Shuts Down M4 Westbound

A man in his 40s has died after a collision on the M4 between junction 17 (Chippenham) and junction 18 (Bath) at around 1am this morning. Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian.

Driver Stays and Police Launch Investigation

The pedestrian sadly died at the scene. The driver involved stopped and is fully cooperating with police. The westbound carriageway remains closed and is expected to stay shut for several more hours while investigators examine the scene and clear the road.

Family Supported as Police Seek Witnesses

The victim’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.
