Man Injured in Crash with Fire Engine Flying to Emergency
A man was hurt after colliding with a fire engine racing through Forest Gate in the early hours of Wednesday.
The smash happened at around 12.30am at the busy junction of Katherine Road and Romford Road.
Firefighters Give First Aid At Scene
The injured man, yet to be named, received first aid from the firefighters on board the fire engine. It’s unclear if he has since been taken to hospital.
Photos from the scene show the fire engine badly damaged and parked near traffic lights and a pedestrian crossing.
Road Closed, Investigation Underway
Authorities shut the road for several hours to carry out investigations, setting up a large cordon around the area.
A white van and two cars were also involved when the fire engine, responding with blue lights flashing, crashed through the junction.
Police have launched an investigation and are urging anyone who saw the incident to come forward.
Probe to Use Fire Engine’s Onboard Camera
The Met Police and London Fire Brigade will conduct a joint inquiry to determine exactly what happened. They are reviewing footage from the fire engine’s onboard camera as part of the probe.
Both forces have been approached for comment.
