Mattressman to Shut Isle of Wight Store After Less Than Two Years

Mattressman is set to close its Isle of Wight store, less than two years after it opened in the heart of Newport. The national bed retailer announced today that 14 of its 25 stores across the UK will shut, costing over 130 jobs.

Struggling Sales Force Store Closures

Poor sales have prompted a company-wide reshuffle. The Newport outlet at Towngate Retail Park is scheduled to close on 2nd July.

Customers with outstanding orders can relax. Mattressman confirmed all pending orders will be fulfilled. If not, refunds will be issued.

From Blockbusters to Bed Store

Mattressman took over the large retail space off St James’ Street in November 2016 after the fall of Blockbusters. Now, just under two years later, it faces closure amid wider cutbacks.
