The results are in, invitations sent, and special guests announced for Medway’s biggest night in sport! The standard of nominees has left organisers stunned, especially in the Junior Sportsperson category with a whopping 18 stellar entries.
Football Legend Chris Waddle to Star at Ceremony
British football icon Chris Waddle is set to dazzle the crowd. The 1990 World Cup star, who famously featured in the “Hand of God” England v Argentina match, boasts an impressive career with top British and European clubs. In 1993, he scooped the Football Writer’s Footballer of the Year award and even lent his voice to New Order’s iconic World Cup anthem.
Gymnastics Greats Georgia-Mae Fenton and Danusia Francis-Reid Join the Party
Commonwealth champion Georgia-Mae Fenton will also grace the event. A gold medallist on the uneven bars at both the 2018 Gold Coast and 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, Georgia-Mae helped her team clinch silver at the 2022 World Championships in Liverpool, securing a spot for the 2024 Olympics.
Meanwhile, Jamaican Olympic gymnast and sports presenter Danusia Francis-Reid will host the ceremony. Danusia claimed her first British Championship at just nine and consistently placed in the top six nationally. She was a 2012 Olympic reserve and finally competed at Tokyo 2020, overcoming a torn ACL to perform on the uneven bars. Recently, Danusia presented at the World Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.
