Million-Pound Home Saved After Dramatic Blaze – Firefighters Hailed Heroes
A luxury property worth over a million pounds was saved from total destruction thanks to the swift actions of Surrey Fire and Rescue crews. Firefighters bravely entered the burning house, led the owners to safety, and battled the flames inside.
Massive Fire Response Saves Stunning Scandinavian Wooden Home
The fierce fire started in the roof of the property, prompting an urgent response. Over 60 firefighters raced to the scene, equipped with two water carriers and an aerial ladder platform. Despite the roof being 40% damaged and parts of the second floor affected, crews stopped the blaze from spreading further.
The owners praised the firefighters for their heroic efforts to protect their home, which features unique Scandinavian wooden construction.
Fighting Flames in a Challenge: No Loft, Tough Access
Early fire crews faced serious hurdles. “The fire was fully developed when we arrived,” said one firefighter. “Without a loft space, we had to keep cutting away the structure to prevent the fire spreading.”
Heavy smoke and visible flames pouring from the roof complicated the battle. Six firefighters in breathing apparatus used six hose reels and two ventilation units to tackle the blaze inside the house.
Cause Under Investigation – Wood Burner Suspected
Fire chiefs believe the blaze may have started due to a faulty wood burner, but the exact cause remains under investigation.
The incident commander revealed why they needed special equipment. “The fire had spread to the roof space, so we requested an aerial ladder platform. But access was tricky. The property’s remote location off the beaten track meant water supply was limited, and the aerial ladder couldn’t fit down the driveway. We used extension and roof ladders to reach the flames.”
Thanks to tireless firefighter efforts, the home was saved from ruin in a dramatic showdown with the flames.
