Divers Search Loughborough Canal for Missing Woman
Divers plunged into Loughborough’s Grand Union Canal today (Monday 9 December) as the hunt for missing local woman Linda Chambers steps up. The underwater search follows a three-day sweep last month by specially-trained dogs.
Linda Vanishes Without a Trace in September
Linda Chambers, 43, was reported missing on 10 September by a worried friend who hadn’t heard from her for weeks. Leicestershire Police quickly launched an appeal, urging the public to help find her.
Police Follow Every Lead, Including Man Named Garth
Officers shared photos of Linda shopping in Loughborough on 13 April, hoping someone might recognise her. They also sought a man called Garth, believed to know Linda. Although Garth was traced, Linda’s whereabouts remain a mystery.
“We’re keeping an open mind as to Linda’s whereabouts,” said Detective Inspector Simon Boden of Leicestershire Police’s Missing Persons Operations Team.
“Searches around Loughborough have come up empty, so we’ve moved on to searching the canal. After the dogs’ search, divers are now combing the water.
“We urge anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.”
