Brighton Council Pumps £15k into BME Community Projects
Brighton & Hove City Council has handed out £15,000 to nine local groups in its latest BME Engagement Fund round. The fund, launched in 2020, backs projects that boost wellbeing and fairness for Black and Minority Ethnic residents across the city.
Grants Fuel Vital Community Activities
Groups scored up to £2,000 each to cover activities and running costs. Projects supported include Ohisama Ahaha, which offers Japanese-speaking environments and cultural workshops for children and families. Meanwhile, A Seat At The Table focuses on support for BME families and children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), providing wellbeing sessions and workshops.
How to Get Funding?
The Engagement Fund sits within the council’s wider Communities Fund, aimed at local voluntary organisations and social enterprises with annual incomes under £20,000. Applications open between April and October, with another BME-specific funding round coming later this year.
