Body Found in Car Boot Sparks Murder Probe in Purley
Police made a grim discovery on the evening of Monday, 6 November, after spotting a Red Nissan Almera parked near Nicholas Court in Dale Road, Purley. The vehicle was quickly sealed off as a crime scene to protect vital evidence.
Forensic teams scoured the car and the following day recovered a body from the boot. A post-mortem on 9 November failed to establish a formal cause of death. Detective teams are now working to confirm the identity of the deceased.
Victim Believed to Be Missing Man Justin Henry
The victim is thought to be Justin Henry, 34, reported missing by his family on 16 October. He was last spotted alive on 15 October at his partner’s home in Brixton, and later caught on CCTV buying food at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Croydon.
Justin’s silver Mercedes E-Class was parked nearby on Waddon New Road for over two hours before being found in Kingswood Drive the next day. CCTV footage shows an indistinct driver at the wheel—Justin’s family insists it was not him.
Two Men Charged as Police Hunt for Answers
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Webb of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command confirmed, “Officers meticulously preserved the scene and, on Tuesday, confirmed the body was inside the car. We spoke with Justin’s family and are awaiting formal ID.”
He added, “Two men, aged 28 and 29, have been charged with Justin’s murder. We urge anyone with information about the red Nissan’s movements after Justin vanished to contact police.”
A 27-year-old woman was also arrested on 18 October on suspicion of kidnapping but has since been bailed pending further inquiries.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Information
Officers continue to examine CCTV, phone data, and properties linked to the case. They are desperate for help piecing together Justin’s final hours. Anyone with info should call 101 or reach out via Twitter @MetCC. Quote Operation Ashgulf or CAD1523/02NOV.
