New Roundabout Set to Transform A27 Traffic Near Lancing
Construction is in full swing on a brand-new roundabout east of Lancing on the A27. The aim? To unlock access to the New Monks Farm development and boost links to Brighton City Airport.
Key Dates for Night Closures Announced
The project kicked off in June 2022 and is on track to wrap up by summer 2024. But drivers beware: several overnight closures are planned to keep work moving.
- 9pm Friday 12 April to 6am Monday 15 April
- 9pm Friday 26 April to 6am Monday 29 April
- 9pm Friday 10 May to 6am Monday 13 May
- 9pm Friday 7 June to 6am Monday 10 June
During these times, expect diversions via the A27, A24, and A283. Good news for locals, though: airport access and direct entry from the eastbound A27 within the closure zone will remain open.
Stay Alert for Lane Closures and Traffic Shifts
Regular overnight lane closures on both sides of the A27 will continue over coming months. These are essential for progressing the build without causing chaos.
Future phases will see all westbound traffic rerouted onto the new carriageway around the roundabout. Both westbound and eastbound carriageways will get upgrades, with work carefully staged to keep delays minimal ahead of the 2024 summer finish.
Boosting Local Transport and Growth
This new roundabout is a game-changer for local infrastructure. It aims to improve connectivity, support New Monks Farm’s growth, and ensure safer, smoother journeys. The project highlights a firm commitment to upgrading road networks, meeting community needs, and driving economic growth in the region.
