Nine Hurt as Police Van Crashes into Double-Decker in Kennington
Chaos erupted in southeast London after a police van smashed into a double-decker bus on Kennington Park Road this morning. Emergency crews rushed to the scene at 11:30am following the alarming collision.
Emergency Response and Hospital Admissions
Three bus passengers were swiftly taken to hospital by ambulance. Firefighters freed a trapped police officer from the van, who was also rushed to hospital. Several other officers were admitted as a precaution. Thankfully, all injuries are reported non-life-threatening and not life-changing.
Road Closures and Ongoing Investigation
Police, fire, and ambulance teams continue managing the aftermath. Road closures remain in place around Kennington Park Road as investigations into the crash cause are underway.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Kennington Park Road, SE11, at about 11:32hrs following reports of a collision involving a police van and a bus.”
The London Fire Brigade added: “Firefighters from Clapham, Peckham, and Battersea stations attended after reports of a crash involving a double-decker bus and a police vehicle.”
