North Circular Shutdown After Woman Falls from Bridge
A major section of the North Circular is shut both ways, causing traffic chaos all the way back to the M4. The closure comes after a woman fell from a bridge in Hounslow during the early hours of Friday morning.
Tragic Incident on Gunnersbury Avenue
Police were called at 2.18am following reports that a woman in her 30s had plunged from the overhead bridge on Gunnersbury Avenue. Emergency services found she landed on the road and was struck by a heavy goods vehicle. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation Underway, Road Closures Remain
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed: “Enquiries are underway to notify next of kin. The Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is probing this unexpected death. A lorry driver is cooperating fully with police.”
The A406 North Circular remains closed in both directions between the M4 Junction 1 (Chiswick Roundabout) and A4000 Gunnersbury Lane (Gunnersbury Park, Acton). This closure has backed up traffic to Chiswick High Road and beyond, causing severe delays.
Drivers Urged to Avoid the Area
Motorists are advised to steer clear of the North Circular stretch until the road reopens safely. Authorities warn that congestion and delays will continue for some time as investigations proceed.
