Off-duty Police Officer Attacked In Nottingham: Police Release Image Of Suspect

Police in Nottingham have released an image of a man they are seeking to trace in connection with an attack on an off-duty police officer. The incident occurred at a bar on King Street in Nottingham, where the Leicestershire sergeant was enjoying an evening out with friends.

The off-duty officer overheard a man making racial comments towards another individual and decided to intervene. When he confronted the man about his behavior, the suspect attempted to punch him. The altercation then spilled outside the premises, where the off-duty officer was viciously assaulted by a group of four males.

The incident took place at approximately 8:10 pm on Saturday, 7 October. PC Koen Broers of Nottinghamshire Police commended the off-duty officer for his bravery in intervening but expressed concern over the severity of the assault. Fortunately, the officer’s injuries were not severe, but the police remain determined to apprehend those responsible.

Following a review of CCTV footage, authorities have identified a man they wish to speak to as part of their investigation. Nottinghamshire Police have urged anyone who recognises the individual in the released image or who may be the person shown to come forward with information.

PC Broers stated, “If you know the man in the picture or you are the man in the picture, then please get in touch with us. You can call 101, quoting incident number 23000624438. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
