The incident is reported to have happened as the victim was walking in Speldhurst Road, between Lady’s Gift Lane and Kibbles Lane, on 1 January 2024 between 1.10am and 1.30am.
A stranger had tried to engage with her and walk alongside her from Powder Mill Road until they reached the location of the offence where he then touched her inappropriately. The man left the area soon after the incident and the woman was able to get home safely before reporting it to Kent Police.
The suspect is described as white with an Irish accent, in his early 30s, slim, tall – approximately 5ft 11ins – with short dark hair and stubble. He was seen wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
Officers carrying out enquiries are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. They would like to hear from anyone who recognises the description of the man or who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area. Residents living nearby with doorbell cameras and other home security systems, as well as motorists with dashcam, are also urged to check for any footage which may assist the investigation.
