Kent and Sussex Police Crack Down on Dangerous Bikers

Kent’s Roads Safety Unit joined forces with Sussex Police and Highways England to launch a hard-hitting campaign targeting risky motorcycle behaviour. The operation, part of the national two-wheel road safety push from 12-18 April, aimed to make roads safer for everyone.

Hotspots Targeted for Safe Riding

Over the weekend, officers patrolled popular biker routes like the A2070 and A259, cracking down on reckless riding while engaging with groups to promote safety. They also hit the A21 and Military Road in Rye, responding to reports of speeding, anti-social motoring, and dangerous stunts.

But this was no simple ticket blitz. The cops focused on talking to riders and other motorists alike, urging everyone to drive responsibly and watch out for vulnerable road users.

Clear Message from the Top Brass

Chief Inspector Elena Hall said: “This isn’t about penalising bikers but about promoting road safety and mutual respect on the roads. Most motorcyclists are responsible riders, but we’ve had troubling reports of dangerous and speeding riders. We want the community to understand the importance of riding safely.”

“All motorists must look out for vulnerable road users, no matter their vehicle. Our message is simple: look twice, think bike – especially at junctions and when turning. Those precious seconds could save lives.”

Colin Evans, Regional Safety Coordinator at Highways England, added: “Safety is our top priority. Partnerships like this are vital to get the message across. If everyone looks out for one another, we can all make it home safe.”
