The fire is very deep-seated and firefighters will continue to be at the scene into Saturday (17 July) damping down hot spots.”

Quick Response Brings Fire Under Control

The Brigade was called at 12:42pm and had the fire under control by 2:17am. Teams from Bexley, Plumstead, Millwall, Lee Green, Greenwich, and Eltham fire stations rushed to the scene.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, with emergency crews expected to remain through Saturday to fully extinguish lingering hotspots.
