Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Collision on Busy A31 in New Forest
The westbound A31 towards Ringwood remains shut after a pedestrian was struck by a car in a serious crash near Stoney Cross Services.
Crash Sparks Major Road Closure
Emergency services rushed to the scene just after 1am on Sunday morning when an Audi A3 hit the pedestrian mere yards from the services station.
Police, paramedics, and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance all attended the scene. Authorities closed the A31 at Junction 2 of the M27 motorway to carry out a full investigation.
Long Closure and Diversions in Place
The closure is expected to last several hours as recovery and clean-up operations get underway.
Drivers are advised to divert via the A326 towards Colbury, then the A35 through Lyndhurst, before rejoining the A31 at the A338 junction near Christchurch.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“If you witnessed the collision or were driving past the scene before the crash happened, please contact Hampshire Police on 101,” police urged.
A Highways England spokesperson said the road may reopen around 9am, depending on vehicle recovery and clean-up progress.
