Kent Border Chaos Warning: Cross-Channel Travel Packed This Bank Holiday
Kent Resilience Forum (KRF) warns travellers to buckle up and plan ahead. With Eurotunnel and Dover ferry operators confirming sky-high demand from Friday to Sunday, 27-29 May, spontaneous border crossings are off the table. Turn-up-and-go tickets are sold out for this busy weekend.
Jubilee Break Sends Bookings Soaring
Bookings remain heavy for Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 June as the nation gears up for The Queen’s 70-year public service celebration. The four-day Platinum Jubilee bank holiday is set to bring even more pressure on Kent’s cross-Channel routes.
Liverpool FC fans heading to the UEFA Champions League final in Paris this Saturday are among those who have secured their ferry and Eurotunnel spots thanks to early coordination between the club, travel operators, and KRF partners.

Strict traffic controls are also in force at Brenley Corner, Faversham, to redirect EU-bound HGVs from the M2 back onto the M20, keeping Dover town clear of freight gridlock.
National Highways has lifted single-lane restrictions on the A2070 Bad Munstereifel Road in Ashford until 6 June to help ease traffic flow for locals and tourists alike.

He added:
“Keep up to date with traffic and 123.
