Last Call for Covid Jab! First and Second Dose Offer Ends 30 June
The UK Government has announced the Covid vaccine offer for first and second doses to lower-risk adults will end on 30 June 2023. That means just eight weeks left for those unvaccinated to get their jabs before the window closes.
Focus Shifts to High-Risk Groups as NHS Targets Boosters
- About 40 million adults remain eligible under the spring and autumn booster programmes.
- The NHS will now focus on seasonal booster shots for the most vulnerable, following guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
- This targeted approach aims to free up NHS resources, help clear waiting lists, and speed up treatment.
Government Urges Everyone Unvaccinated to Act Now
“As we live with Covid without restrictions, it is right to prioritise those most at risk,” said Health Minister Maria Caulfield.
“I urge anyone who has yet to have their first or second dose to get vaccinated before the offer ends. It only takes minutes and thousands of sites are available across England.”
“Vaccines remain our best defence, and I’ve kept my jabs up to date, so I encourage you to do the same.”
Spring Booster Rolls On – But Ends Same Day
More than two million people have already received this year’s spring booster, with roving NHS teams vaccinating care homes since April. Community vaccinations began mid-April but will also close on 30 June.
The JCVI warns serious illness risk remains highest among older adults, care home residents, and those with underlying health issues.
NHS Vaccinations Director Steve Russell said: “We’ve delivered a record 146 million jabs, including 45 million first doses. Now, as we learn to live with Covid, targeted seasonal campaigns will protect the most vulnerable.”
“Everyone 18+ who is unvaccinated must get their primary course by the end of June.”
“Vaccines are safe and the best way to avoid serious illness – please come forward.”
Dr Mary Ramsay from the UK Health Security Agency added: “The vaccines have allowed us to live with Covid by protecting millions.”
“It only takes minutes, even if you’ve had the virus before. If you’re unvaccinated, come forward before the offer ends.”
