A person was found dead on the tracks at Winchester train station this morning, British Transport Police have confirmed.
Emergency Services Rush to Scene
At 8:48am on Tuesday, March 12, emergency crews were called after reports of a casualty on the railway line. Paramedics tried to save the individual but pronounced them dead shortly after arriving.
Police Statement Rules Out Suspicious Circumstances
“Officers were called to Winchester railway station at 8.48am today (March 12) to reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.”
Train Services Disrupted But Now Back to Normal
Services through Winchester station were temporarily halted during the emergency response but have since resumed as normal. No further information about the deceased has been released.
