Fatal Incident Near Rugeley Trent Valley
A person has died after being hit by a train on the London Euston rail line, causing chaos for commuters during Thursday’s morning rush hour.
Emergency crews were called to the tracks near Rugeley Trent Valley station in Staffordshire at around 6.30am on 20 March. Despite the prompt response from British Transport Police and paramedics, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Confirm No Suspicious Circumstances
A spokesperson from British Transport Police (BTP) said:
“Officers were called to the line near Rugeley Trent Valley railway station at around 6.30am today (20 March) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended; however, sadly, a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Widespread Rail Delays & Disruptions
National Rail reported major delays on services running between London Euston and the Midlands. Trains were disrupted as emergency teams worked at the scene and operators struggled to restore schedules.
