Chaos erupted at Darlington station on the East Coast Main Line at 11.45am today (September 27) after emergency services rushed in following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
All services to and from London Kings Cross were immediately suspended, sparking cancellations and delays of up to an hour. Commuters faced major disruption, with delays expected to last until 4pm.
Casualty Dies at Scene, Police Clear Suspicion
Paramedics attended the scene but sadly pronounced the casualty dead on arrival. A British Transport Police spokesperson confirmed:
“Officers were called to the line close to Darlington station at 11.45am on Saturday (September 27) following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
