Kitchen Blaze in Gillingham Sparks Firefighter Rescue
Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to a kitchen fire near Gordon Road in Gillingham early Thursday. Two fire engines tackled the flames as firefighters in breathing gear attacked the blaze with a hose reel jet.
One Person Rescued from Smoke-Filled Home
Brave crews rescued one casualty from the smoke-logged property. Thankfully, all other residents had safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. Paramedics from SECAmb treated the casualty on site as a precaution.
Accidental Fire Sparks Safety Warning
The blaze is believed to have started accidentally. Firefighters used a high-pressure fan to clear the smoke and fitted new smoke alarms throughout the home.
Kent Fire urges everyone to be vigilant in the kitchen. Never leave cooking unattended and always install working smoke alarms on every floor. Test them weekly to stay safe.
