Man Fights for Life After BMW Overturns at Piccadilly Circus

A terrifying early morning crash in central London has left one man critically injured after a black BMW flipped onto its roof near the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain in Piccadilly Circus.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

At 5:25am on Sunday, emergency crews responded swiftly to reports of a single-vehicle collision. The Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade arrived to find the BMW overturned beside the famous ‘Eros’ statue, a hotspot for tourists.

The London Air Ambulance trauma team landed within minutes. Two 22-year-old men were treated at the scene:

  • One suffered life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a major trauma centre.
  • The other was hospitalised with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Piccadilly Circus Lockdown and Damage

Photos reveal the wrecked BMW lying upside down, surrounded by shattered debris and a smashed lamppost. Thankfully, the iconic Eros Fountain remains intact, but police sealed off roads around the area.

“At 05:28hrs on Sunday, 29 June police were called to Piccadilly Circus following a single vehicle road traffic collision. The vehicle had overturned next to the Eros fountain. Roads remain closed while investigations continue. No pedestrians were harmed and no other vehicles were involved.” – Met Police spokesperson

Eye-Witness Account: ‘Total Chaos’

Social media users described the shock scene. One witness said:

“The car looked like it had driven straight into the fountain. Roads around the roundabout are completely closed. Piccadilly Circus is normally buzzing – today it was total chaos.”

Police Appeal for Witnesses

Officers are probing the cause of the crash and have made no arrests. They urge anyone with dashcam footage or information from between 5am and 5:45am to come forward.
