Violent Thug Jailed for Brutal Robbery and Car Theft in Bracknell
Daniel Kiely Busted After Savage Attack on Deaf Victim
Daniel Kiely, 41, homeless, was found guilty by a unanimous jury after a six-day trial at Reading Crown Court, ending on 8 September. On Friday (13/11), he was slammed with six years behind bars for robbery, plus an extra four years on licence. He also got nine months for stealing a car, served at the same time.
Brutal Attack Caught on CCTV
On 30 July 2017, at 3.05pm, a 51-year-old deaf man parked his Skoda Citigo in Mount Pleasant, Bracknell. As he walked away, Kiely flew at him from behind, shouting. The victim couldn’t hear him and only saw him step in front. A vicious punch sparked a fight.
Kiely grabbed the victim’s wallet and car keys, then kicked the man’s head while he lay on the ground. He drove off in the stolen Skoda, which police later recovered.
Justice Served After Police and Public United
The victim sustained a black, swollen eye and multiple cuts and bruises. Police tracked Kiely down through CCTV and charged him on 20 February this year.
“He is a violent and dangerous man,” said Detective Sergeant Paul Bentley. “This crime was deeply distressing for the victim. Thank you to everyone who helped bring Kiely to justice. Thames Valley Police will not tolerate this level of violence.”
Kiely now faces a lengthy jail term and four years on licence. A clear warning to any would-be offenders: violence in Thames Valley will never be ignored.
