Brighton Council Targets Trafalgar Street for Safety Overhaul

Brighton and Hove City Council has unveiled plans to ramp up road safety in the Trafalgar Street area.

Dangerous Junction Sparks Urgent Action

The junction where Blackman Street meets Trafalgar Street has been flagged as a hotspot after six collisions caused casualties over three years. The trouble? Vehicles pulling out of Blackman Street often smash into other cars, pedestrians, or cyclists due to poor visibility.

Council Proposes Blockade to Slash Crashes

To tackle the dangers head-on, the Brighton & Hove Economic Partnership suggests shutting Blackman Street at its Trafalgar Street junction. Traffic can still flow both ways between Cheapside and the nearby car park, and crucially, cyclists will keep access — mirroring the setup at Station Street.
